Remodeling marketing trends for 2027: what is changing and what to do about it

Five shifts in how homeowners find and choose a remodeler, and the practical response to each.

PJC Media · November 2, 2026 · 6 min read

What are the biggest remodeling marketing trends for 2027?

The biggest shifts are AI assistants answering homeowners' questions before they reach a search result, video proof replacing written testimonials, instant replies becoming the expected standard, contractors moving away from shared lead marketplaces toward leads they own, and marketing being judged on signed contracts rather than lead counts. All five reward the same things: being specific, being fast and being able to prove it.

How to read this list

These are the changes we are planning around for the remodelers we work with, not predictions dressed up as statistics. Each one is already visible in how homeowners behave. The question is how quickly a remodeler adapts to it.

1. The answer arrives before the search result

Homeowners increasingly get a written answer from ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI Overview before they see a single website. Those answers quote pages that explain costs, timelines and how to choose a contractor. The response: publish those pages, in plain language, with real numbers.

2. Video proof beats written reviews

A short clip of a real customer, or of the owner explaining a job, carries more weight than a paragraph anybody could have written. Homeowners are more sceptical of polished claims than ever. The response: film the walkthrough at the end of every job and ask your best customers to say a few words on camera.

3. Instant replies are the expected standard

Homeowners are used to instant answers from every other business they deal with. A remodeler who replies the next morning now looks slow rather than normal. The response: an automated, personal reply inside a minute and a sequence that runs for weeks.

4. Owned leads over shared ones

Lead marketplaces sell the same homeowner to several contractors at once, which turns every job into a race and a price fight. More remodelers are building their own pipeline instead, through ads, search and their own site, where the lead is theirs alone. The response: work out your real cost per signed job on shared leads, and compare it honestly.

5. Marketing judged on signed work

Remodelers are tired of reports full of clicks and impressions. The agencies and tools that last will be the ones that trace each signed contract back to where it came from. The response: track every lead to a signed or lost job, and judge every channel on that number.

Every trend on this list rewards the same three things: be specific, be fast and be able to prove it.

Questions people ask

What is the biggest marketing change for remodelers in 2027?
AI assistants answering homeowners' questions before they reach a website. Pages that answer costs, timelines and how to hire, in plain language, are what those answers quote.
Are lead marketplaces still worth it for remodelers?
Sometimes, but compare cost per signed job rather than cost per lead. Shared leads are sold to several contractors, so close rates are usually lower.
Should remodelers use video in their marketing?
Yes. Customer clips and job walkthroughs are more convincing than written testimonials and work in ads, on your site and on your Google profile.
